stretch lace???

So I'm going to one of my best friends wedding in San Francisco this spring and I am thinking about seriously making my bolero jacket to go over my dress. It's a fabulous Betsey Johnson crepe black with gorgeous pink rosettes smattered all over it, very fun and also very chilly as it is spaghetti straps.....in San Francisco that's always a gamble because the weather is usually cold to be sporting around cute eveningwear.

My idea is to sew a shrug type bolero jacket out of some nice black stretch lace with ruffles of course....and I've never made any "garments" with sleeves, so I'm hesitant but inspired to try. Do you think I'll need interfacing at the seams or will my overlock stitch be enough? Please comment if you are familiar with the workings of stretch lace. I found one on ebay, down in Australia of all places that has one for $50 and lets just say at this point my budget is stretched to capacity.

This will be a fun project either way!!!

Birthday Party Favors!

It's almost birthday party time around here! My daughter and I share the very same birthday and in preparation of her big second birthday I have started making fun aprons for all things birthday! Ice cream, cupcakes and images of pink party aprons are dancing around in my head, so I thought I'd share them with you! My pink party aprons make great gifts for the birthday girl and make really amazing party favors to give at your next suaree.

All orders of 10 or more party aprons receive 20%, how sweet is that!!! They're on my etsy shop if you are interested!

Now I must get back to getting things in order for our birthday party on Saturday, here at the house.....which is not cleaned up and I am baking the cake too!!!!

dreaming of spring

I was working in my garden today, yes it was 34 degrees outside, not exactly warm........but the summer tomato plants were in a sad state of affairs and it dawned on me! I'm dreaming of Springtime! As I gazed longingly at my empty container garden, I too will be dreaming of my beautiful tulips to arrive......and that is how this little set came to be!

I'm on a gingham country crafty kick lately and I'm loving the down home goodness of this my newest apron, the country charmer. Heart shaped pockets make me happy and since the economy sucks, I'll take whatever cheer I can find.

I created this little ditty as I can't wait for my new cowboy boots to arrive....it's almost my birthday and those boots are the present I got for myself.... now I'm going to have to go make another one of these here country charmer aprons for I am indeed a country girl at heart. In Seattle? Yup.

But the foxy little dragon (he's in white at the bottom of the picture) is sure a great way to kick off 2009 in style! Now I must go look up my chinese horoscope, a fun thing i like to do and haven't in some time....I'm a tiger, when is it my year???
